Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has made history by breaking the record for the most English Premier League (EPL) goals scored by a Liverpool player. With his 2 goals against Manchester United (7-0) on 5th March 2023, Salah surpassed Robbie Fowler’s previous record of 128 goals.
Salah’s achievement is impressive considering he only joined Liverpool in 2017, whereas Fowler played for the club over two separate spells in the 1990s and 2000s. Salah’s record-breaking goal tops him up to 54 goals in the English Premier League, placing him at the top of the league’s scoring charts.

The Egyptian forward has been in sensational form since joining Liverpool, and he has already become a club legend in his relatively short time at Anfield. Salah has won numerous individual awards, including three EPL Golden Boots, and has played a key role in Liverpool’s recent successes.
Salah’s record-breaking goal came in the 84th minute of Liverpool’s home game against Manchester United where he celebrated by removing his jersey and the referee awarded him a yellow card. The goal was a typical Salah finish, as he latched onto a through ball from Roberto Firmino before calmly slotting the ball past manchester goalkeeper Alisson.
Speaking after the game, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp praised Salah’s achievement and his overall impact on the club. “Mo is a Liverpool legend already, and he deserves all the accolades that come his way,” said Klopp. “He’s a fantastic player, a great person, and a vital part of our team.”
Salah’s record-breaking goal has been widely celebrated by Liverpool fans around the world, with many hailing him as one of the greatest players in the club’s history. The 30-year-old is showing no signs of slowing down, and he will be looking to add to his tally of EPL goals as Liverpool chases a top-four finish this season.
